Learn more about yourself through these 20 optical illusions!
Your brain is composed of millions of tiny connections that send electrical signals back and forth. These incredibly complex events also determine your character and personality. Researchers at Queen’s University in Ontario discovered that the human brain processes about 6,200 thoughts per day. This means you have a new thought roughly every 14 seconds. These thoughts are specific to how your brain processes information and therefore to how you see the world.
Take a look at these 20 optical illusions. What you see – or rather, how your brain interprets them – reveals much more about your personality than you might think.
20. Columns or silhouettes?
If your eyes first focused on the light parts of the image, you might have seen three columns. If your eyes focused on the darker areas, you likely saw two silhouettes. Whichever you saw first says a lot about your attitude toward life.
According to The Powerful Mind, if the first thing you saw was the columns, you are more inclined toward security and calm. You’re someone who likes to plan things before starting. You prefer to have clear goals and not dive in without knowing what will happen. And if the two silhouettes were the first thing that came to mind? Then you’re likely someone who is more inclined to do impulsive things. You are probably a bit of a nonconformist. Your curiosity keeps you from staying still, and you tend to be impatient.
19. Man or woman?
What do you see in the image above? If you see the back of a young woman’s head, according to the New Zealand Herald, you are a curious person. You have a habit of looking at the bright side of life. You are altruistic, enjoy giving to charity, and love helping those in need. At the same time, you are careful when making decisions to ensure you don’t act impulsively. You pay attention to every detail.
Did you see an old man with a mustache? Then you are a loyal and trustworthy person with a good head on your shoulders. You are faithful and honest, always ready to solve problems and lead or guide those around you. You’re a perfectionist, and your constant drive to find the best way to do things can cause a lot of stress.
18. Explosion or hands?
What do you see in this artwork by Israeli artist Noma Bar? If the colorful imagery in the center makes you think of an explosion, The Wonder List suggests that you are highly organized and a good leader.
You may have instantly noticed the thumbs in the dark space. This means you are extremely kind to others and display a great deal of empathy. You’re ready to do everything you can for those around you and will always fight for justice.
17. Binoculars, car, or the letter A?
This optical illusion can lead you to three different interpretations. In this image, you’ll either see a man with a hat looking through binoculars, a car in the middle of the road, or the letter A.
Did the man with binoculars catch your eye? Then you are someone who knows how to keep an eye on things and sees the big picture instead of focusing on details.
Did you see the car first? This means you value freedom and personal fulfillment. You live life your way and don’t care what others think.
Maybe you saw the letter A? You probably have a pretty different worldview. You’re good at solving problems and seeing things from different angles. This makes your vision extremely valuable.
16. Faces or a candlestick?
This is a well-known optical illusion. You’ve likely seen it before, but do you know what it says about your personality? If the first thing you see is two faces, according to The Powerful Mind, you’re an extrovert who feels very comfortable in groups. You’re the center of attention at parties and gatherings. You don’t tire easily, and you’re full of energy, especially when surrounded by others. Show this one to your friends!
Did you see the black candlestick first? Then you’re likely a more introverted person. You’re thoughtful and maybe a little shy. You prefer to be left alone with your own thoughts and would rather spend a night at home than be dragged into a busy party. You’d rather be with a small group of close friends than a large group of acquaintances.
